Re: My Campus is getting shot up.
The school and police got owned at that press conference. Self-owned.

Re: My Campus is getting shot up.
Wow, is this guy being interviewed a 2p2'er? What he's saying is the same thing I saw mentioned earlier in this thread but am not going to scroll up to check becuase the thread is too long. He tried to tell a sarcastic joke but the timing is all wrong considering the situation.

Re: My Campus is getting shot up.
[ QUOTE ]
All, I think pointing fingers at the administration at this time is silly. There is always an outcry after such events to find somewhere to place the blame. The campus had heightened security and a major police presence following the initial incident though it would now seem hindsight is 20/20. Any staff involved in the decision making process obviously had no malevolent intention and I would think the guilt felt for the events that happened today would be devestating. I'm not sure what justice people would be hoping to find by prosecuting them. [/ QUOTE ] i dont think we should prosecute the school, i mean they didn't do anything technically or legally wrong. What I am suggesting is that we place new rules on how shootings on school ARE handled. Its ridiculous that the school can just "assume" everything is ok before the police or proper authorities have come and made that judgement. I don't think it is unreasonable to have a rule that when shots are fired, immediately shut down campus, and send out warnings to all the students to stay indoors. Then AFTER everything has been resolved, the school can reopen campus for class. When did "better safe than sorry" become such a bad thing? |

Re: My Campus is getting shot up.
This whole thing makes me feel very sad and powerless. I would just like to offer my condolences to everyone in the VT community, and anyone with friends, family, etc. who were touched by this horrible tragedy. You are all in my thoughts.

Re: My Campus is getting shot up.

[ QUOTE ] cnn just had a swat specialist on who said something to the effect of: "i know this is tough, but you've got to get in there and get to the gunman. once you're close to him and have eliminated him, there is no more threat." question at press conference now: "why not shut down campus after the first shooting?" "the information we received after the first shooting was that it was an isolated incident to that dormitory" "can you elaborate on why it took two hours to inform students of the first shooting?" "they were informed" "students didnt' receive an email until 9:26" "well, that's when we confirmed what happened." in between the two they go on to say that they believed the gunman left campus and the state due to information they had, but they would not elaborate why. awful. [/ QUOTE ] according to Dids, this is perfectly acceptable! [/ QUOTE ] You're a [censored] idiot, given that my whole point was that these things weren't similar in the least. I'm done trying to explain things to your painfully simple brain. |

Edd, I love you. But it's not. Not by a long shot. [/ QUOTE ] well probably but im pretty used to students getting killed in the 3 years of high school -one dude run over and backed up on repeatedly while walking his younger sister to the store - 4 kids involved in a wreck on a coastal highway pulling 90 and meeting a construction truck headon - countless shootings on the football stands/field/school whenever we would play vs compton/hamilton or any other ghetto school - asbestos outbreak - bomb threats theres probably more im forgetting. whatever im not gonna derail this thread or anything with how public schools in la were practically smaller jails. |

Re: My Campus is getting shot up.
Lining up 30 students and shooting them in the head is not like an asbestos outbreak. Sorry Edd.
