Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
24+2, 24K guaranteed, 120/240/25. Blinds to be 150/300/25 in a minute. I'm slightly above average stack.
Villain has been aggro in MP2+. He raised KQ and got it to show down. He raised 99 earlier. He has more chips now than with both hands. Villain, CO (9,275) Button (5,243) SB (9,425) Hero (7253) Folds to Villain who raises to 600, folds to Hero with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. What's the best play and why?: Barry |

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
awful spot!
I would never call being out of position. If we reraise then we're almost potcommited so we might just shove. But we are - based on your reads - probably in the lower end of his range. Have you seen him fold to a reraise before? Although very weak, I guess I would fold Excellent post, really interesting spot |

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
stack sizes are perfect for go and go? seems like a good spot.. make it 2200-2400 and shove any flop? you'll have about a PSB left.

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
OK, lol, that's exactly what I was thinking. I raised a little too much - 3000, which I hated myself for afterwards. Good? Opponent pushes all in almost immediately. Now, must call or resign myself to push bot?

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
Because of your raise size you have to call now, cause you get too good odds to fold - but as you said the raise-size was not good, leaving you no backdoor.
Preflop I'm not sure what I would do with these stack-sizes, but I think with folding you won't loose any equity here. |

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
If I raise to 3000, calling is +EV.
If I raise to 2200 and it's a push, calling is -EV. I should have raised to 2200. I also need to start playing more MTTs, lol. Barry |

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
I'm happy to flatcall his openraise here. Being OP isn't that huge a deal with these stack sizes & AT does pretty well against his range. And raise/calling & raise/folding arent great.

Re: Kinduv awkward stacks for a 3-bet
what's my plan post flop if I just call here?
I don't think calling is so bad and I need to get myself out of the "the pot is 1/7th of my stack" mentality. I also don't know if when I raise to 2200 if a player is going to flat call my raise enough times to make a go-n-go profitable because our stack sizes are fairly awkward. Barry |
