Is there any more money total body exercise than this?

I would put olympic lifting, strongman type stuff (atlas stones, farmers walks), throwing events etc. above rope climbing in terms of "total body exercise". But yes, definitely a great upper body exercise.

WTF? Its not even a full upper body exercise. It works the vert pull, leaving out both pushing and horizontal pull.

Gag me.

i think chad waterbury had an article a while ago (maybe in the t-nation archives) about using ropes to work out, interesting read, but not very practical since most use commercial gyms...

Who cares if it isn't full body, it's a great workout. Seriously this forum is obsessed with total body. I'm surprised half the people on here squat because it "ignores" the upper body.

I didn't say it was a full upper body movement...but not much is really.

I like to do a bench press while rowing while doing a pull up so I can really work my upper body all at once. Anything else just isn't a full upper body exercise and therefore not effective!

Right....
