Default moving to ac

I may be looking to play in AC full time. I was wondering if anyone was familiar enough with the surrounding areas to be able to recommend a relatively safe area. I'm looking to rent initially to see how it goes. I don't have a problem driving a little bit to get to the casinos. Thanks for any input.

AC is not infested with crime the way LV seems to be. Where you live depends on your budget. Shore towns - Ventnor, Margate, etc. - are close but expensive; especially in the summer during the height of the tourist season. Inland areas like Egg Harbor are also ok. AC proper you will run into more areas that are downtrodden. Subsequently you can probably find a place that's much cheaper there. I have no specific info on what rents are like or what neighborhoods might be better than others.

thanks...the beach itself means nothing to me...i don't like the beach at all. I was kinda assuming that inland would be the way to go.

My parents live in Medford. VERY nice, about an hour from AC, but maybe a bit more costly than you're looking for. That's definitely inland and pretty much equidistant from the PHL airport and ACY airport.

Try Pleasantville (EHT) which is close to AC and Ocean City, but as memory serves me, isn't as expensive and is still nice.

My sister lives in Marlton, her and her husband found a house for $220k that's pretty nice in a nice neighborhood.

I dunno past that. There's a TON of towns in NJ. If you name some names, I can dig up some info for you. My whole family still lives there but me ...

Why??

Look for a place in Brigantine, Galloway Township, Abseson, or Pleasantville. Galloway Townshi has Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton to consider.

Good Luck.

thanks all...ill probably be looking at places like Galloway or Absecon. I'll be in AC by the summer so I look forward to possibly getting together with some of the 2p2ers.

Ok first off, avoid Atlantic City and [most of] Pleasantville, if you want a semi-safe neighborhood. They're mostly ghettos.

To rent, Brigantine, Margate are fine. Most spots in Absecon, Somers Point, Galloway, and Egg Harbor Township (where I live) are generally nice also, but each has at least 1 development I would try to avoid. There's a lot of spots further out (like Mays Landing) that are the same.

'Parts of' Ventnor (away from AC/toward Margate) are safe and nice.

I'm originally from AC and have been in the area my entire life, so you have any questions let me know.

Hmmm... Visit http://www.homefair.com/Find_a_Place/Cityprofile and punch in a few zipcodes.

AC itself is 08401. Total crime risk = 445.
I live in 89123. Total crime risk = 4
Some of the nastiest pieces of NorthLV (89032) rank at 380.

I can't find a Vegas zipcode that matches AC.

Abseson in 08201 has a total crime risk listed at 65. Better than AC, at least.

I actually don't believe the 89123 crime figures. No way it can be that low. But I don't think I'd claim AC is safer than Vegas.

I wouldn't either - AC isn't safe at all once you leave the boardwalk and shopping areas, especially at night.

Eh... that's why I added "seems". I spent a lot of time rooting through some of the crime statistics and links you posted in that other thread. They scared me some. Also the description of car theft as recreational sport.
