Default 100NL: 3Bet AK Whiffs

Villain runs 57/10/1.25/650 (though he's somehow up $600). He INSTANTLY called the 3bet...since there was zero consideration to raising or folding, I think I can pretty much rule out QQ+.

Ultimate Bet - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 10 Players

Hero (SB): $121.95
UTG: $140.75

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (10 Players)
UTG raises to $3.50, 3 folds, MP2 calls $3.50, 1 fold, CO calls $3.50, 1 fold, Hero raises to $18.00, 1 fold, UTG calls $14.50, 2 folds

Flop: ($44) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $26.00, UTG takes maybe two seconds to call $26.00

Is it pointless to bet this flop? If I hit an A or a K on the turn, what's my play?

EDIT: Condensed PF folds.

you need to know how often he folds to a cbet then you will know if you should bet after missing against this opponent

1. The sample size is too small to make a reasonable, accurate judgment.

2. Most of those examples will be from raised pots...this is a 3bet pot where I raised an UTG raiser and two callers.

i disagree after 650 hands, you could get an idea, especially if its really high or low

do you know how often he calls PFR? I use this and it gives a fairly accurate picture, obviously 3bet will be smaller but still.

when in doubt I cbet

C-betting against loose morons on middle-card flops is a leak.

When you 3-bet him with AK, your goal should be to bet/bet/bet when you flop a pair.

C-betting into him here is playing right into his hands.

so the only time we make $$ is when he calls with a weaker A or K and we both hit? doesn't that play right into his hands if he's calling with things like TT, 99 or even aq if we both miss?

Or when the flop comes K-4-2, but he doesn't believe you and calls you down with TT.

C-betting this flop against a loose player is awful IMO.

Yeah, this is what I was looking for. Awhile back, I posted a similar hand (the villain wasn't as loose, but the situation was similar) where I c/f the flop, and I got flamed.

As soon as I bet, I wanted to take it back. There's really not much he folds on that board. As played, what do I do if I turn an ace or a king? Against this guy, I don't know if I actually want to hit anything.

I'd felt a K and don't know what I'd do with an A, but I'm probably not getting away from it. I'm checking every turn though and crai on a K (and prob. A) turn.

Personally, I think 3 betting AK out of position against a 57/10 who is luckboxing the table is your biggest mistake. Just call his raise, c/r if you hit an a or k and try to stack a donk with tptk or better.

This guy is calling all the way down with any pair just cause he is running very hot.
