Well that was helpful.

In Canada, you're supposed to pay taxes if poker is your main source of income. But it's a gray area, and I'm under the impression that most ppl here don't pay.

I hear somewhere that in Australia and the UK, you do not need to pay taxes on winnings.

UK is tax free on gambling

UK used to be 9% gambling tax for things like horses etc. you either paid the 9 % extra when you make a bet (10 pound bet on a horse would be 10.90) and then get any winnings tax free, or pay the 9% on your winnings (10 at 9 to 1 would only return 91 pounds). A bit of pointless trivia there....

Not sure what tax used to be on poker etc. but it has been abolished anyway.

"Sweden is tax free as long as you play at sites based in the European union. "

thats because of the european tax agreement to not paying double taxes

do you know for instance if in gibraltar chance game taxes are paid by the site partypoker?

Pros in Norway must pay between 30-50% on their profit depending on how much they make. The more they make, the higher the percentage. It maxes out at 50% at roughly a yearly profit of $65000 or more.
