Missing out on Death Due to Random Act
Well given the 9/11 stuff going on it reminded me of the crazy fact that I learned while watching Dinner for 5 on DVD awhile back. I guess Seth McFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, had a ticket to fly home on the plane that hit the second tower...but he apparantly over slept that morning in his NYC hotel room and thus never made the flight.
I figured that had to have happened a lot that day with people who called in sick for work...went to get something to eat etc...or people who normally would have gotten out but went up to the top of the building due to work(there is a movie out about a guy like this dubbed the Falling Man-he jumped from the top floor but looked strangly peaceful as he fell-). Anyways I was curious if anyone has ever had a expierence like this..you would have been in a fatal or near fatal accident etc of some kind but due to a random occurance you "escaped" death? Did it change you in anyway? |

Re: Missing out on Death Due to Random Act
If I never hear another story about how someone lucked out by getting stoned and missing their flight on U93 or some [censored], I'll die a happy man.

Re: Missing out on Death Due to Random Act
I know someone who wasn't on the 85th floor of one of the towers because he wanted to eat breakfast. Everyone he was going to meet is dead.

Re: Missing out on Death Due to Random Act
I was probably in Kindergarten or 1st grade when my grandma who walked me to school handed me my backpack just as we got to the top of a flight of stairs (she was holding it for me, for what reason I don't really remember, but probably my laziness heh). I put it on, and next thing I know, I slip and proceed to slide all the way to the bottom of the stairs (probably about 12-14 steps all the way down). I pretty much bounced up when I got to the bottom without a scratch on me. I always felt that if I didn't have my backpack on when I slipped, I would've gotten hurt pretty bad.

Re: Missing out on Death Due to Random Act
When i was like 10 or 11 i was supposed to get on a plane, but they wouldn't let me board without an adult guardian so i didn't get to go and that plane ended up crashing. Not as cool as a hijacking, but crashed none the less.
