It's a hypothetical question. In modern golf, distance is king (bomb & gouge). Since Tiger, there are more "athletes" taking up golf instead of the usual sports, (basketball, baseball, football)changing the landscape of golf. The golf swing is an athletic motion and yes these "beasts" would have a significant advantage if they had played golf instead of their respective sports.

For golf talent in NBA players, I'd pick anyone with a good jumper before Lebron. I would also say that being much taller than 6'3"-6'5" is going to hurt more than it helps.

Which has nothing to do wtih size/strength/speed. .

My vote goes to Yao (or maybe Manute Bol).

Think of the clubhead speed he would get using a wedge with a 44" shaft. Also if he used a putter that went almost to his chin like Tim Clark does he could get about 12' feet of space when taking his two clublengths for an unplayable lie. Also if he got in one of those bunkers with a really high lip he could still see over it and read the green while Tiger and company are just aiming for the top of the flagstick.

I think if Lebron played since he was 4, Tiger wouldn't even compare.

Tiger would still be better because he started at age 2.

P.S. This thread blows.

I always wonder what Ted Williams would have done to a golf ball if that was his sport rather than baseball.

Hockey players do tend to make excellent golfers.

Babe Ruth played some golf. Couldn't hit it out of his shadow.
His teammate,
Sam Byrd gave him some tips to help.
His main tip was to keep a handkerchief under your left arm during the swing.
Jimmy Ballard credits Sam Byrd with much of his understanding of the golf swing.

Former Red Sok Jim Rice was known for bombing Drives, and destroying persimmon head clubs.
I heard a story of Bob Toski loaning him his Drive to try, Jim shattered it with the first swing.
Toski thought it was a fluke, got another Driver- same result!

I think Nikolay Valuev would be supreme.

If he can't beat his opponents in a legit manor he could simply eat them and win by default.
