20/40 AKs
Live 20/40 about 3+ tp every flop, which is not as loose as usual. Reads will be in brackets.
Hero is UTG w A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero raises, 2 call, 4 folds, BT 3bets [he always raises on BT so ignore], Blinds call, I cap. Flop: (6) 24SB A J 8r I bet, all call.... [wtf?? seriously 5 callers...] Turn: (6) 15BB Qx [alright, that is a bad card, its the kind of card that makes two pair, I don't want to get raised and i want to get to SD. My single bet won't knock out anything in this big of a pot. BT is a habitual bettor, if he bets, I'll c/r but for now I chk.] Hero chks, chked round. [random expletives...] JT |

Re: 20/40 AKs
I like the check in this situation. I want to get to showdown given the size of the pot without paying 120. It sucks that it got checked round, but in my experience somebody will bet A-10 or maybe even a worse suited ace in this spot.

Re: 20/40 AKs
You need to bet because the pot is so big, multi-way, and your are OOP. You can call if raised for your gutshot or 8.

Re: 20/40 AKs
Easy bet. You'll be getting a minimum of 18-1 if you get popped, so it's not like it'll make you sick or anything. As an added benefit, getting raised by a player on your left will likely clean up some outs for you. Bottom pair/gutshots and the like will probably call for 1 bet, and fold (maybe even incorrectly) for 2 cold. 15bb pots aren't the place to be concerned about saving a bet.

Re: 20/40 AKs
There were two reasons for my check.
1. Board texture. A Q J, + 2 average CCers led to a reasonable 2pair. 2. BTN likes to bet, I felt I could definately c/r him. JT |

Re: 20/40 AKs
if you're gonna make a post about justifying a turn check oop, you shouldn't include the fact that the turn checked through.
of course everyone's gonna say its an easy bet (which it is either way) |

Re: 20/40 AKs
Tough hand. I think your turn line is ok. Sucks to get checked through, but it coming back to you for 2 more would feel worse.
Curious about the river of course ... |

Re: 20/40 AKs
Checking here is horrendous imo. There is no reason to assume you are beat yet--everybody's gonna peel the flop with any old backdoor hand there, not just pairs. Plus you have tptk AND the nut straight draw. Finally, the fish will be scared to raise you with just 2pair bc you rate to have a monster here much of the time. Bet. And bet any non-9 river card as well.

Re: 20/40 AKs
I specifically like betting as previously said because there is a good chance the button will raise you and push out all the questionable hands so that now you have increased your chances of winning the pot as you are obviously playing to a showdown in most cases.
