Default Can you even beat the rake?

I'm trying to learn limit, playing at .50/1 and am SFfrustrated. I know you guys probably hear this all the time, but I just don't know how to beat these clowns. I'm coming up on my first 10k hands and will probably be +1.5BB/100, maybe 2 if I'm lucky. The runner-runner non-sense is driving me nuts. At these levels it's the very definition of no fold'em hold'em, I can't imagine over the long run I'm even going to beat the rake. Some of you are seriously pulling down 4 BB/100?!?! Right now I'm basically playing for FPPs and the ability to buy a Frosty & cheeseburger once a month.

this is contradicatory. if a game is beatable it is probably because its no foldem holdem. sometimes the fish win most of the time they dont. if you cant handle this then maybe poker isnt for you.

Yes, I definitely prefer everyone folding preflop when I have AA instead of calling all the way to the river. Clearly I make more money when I only win the blinds.

Ok sorry for posting, didn't realize 2+2 turned into FCP. Pardon me for *GASP* being human and getting frustrated.

TY to Bona for not being a sarcastic [censored].

I've been beating the micros for 70k hands. People have done it for longer. It's definitely possible. 1.5/100 isn't bad and I wish I was at that level.

pariah, its okay to get frustrated with the beats. Good players get more beats than they get because they get their money in ahead more often than behind whereas bad players are bad for a reason.

Honestly, if this is your first 10k hands are you are beating the game for 2BB/100 then that is VERY good. There are people on this forum who have played way more than that who are not winning at 2BB/100.

Im dead serious, if you arent enjoying winning at 2BB/100 then how are you going to feel when the hole drops out of the bottom and you lose 2BB/100 or way worse?

if you want to continue to get better, reply to other peoples hands and maybe post a few you have trouble with....the forum is a very valuable tool when used properly

goodluck

Ok, this is more what I was looking for. My expectations were probably too high since 1-2 is pretty marginal to my NL-prograrmmed mind. Plus, I think in NL I made so much money from fold equity and it's weird being forced to make hands. Not to mention that beats in limit are of such a bizarre, excruciating variety. I will keep grinding though and maybe post my stats after 20k.

P.S -- somebody really did tell me you can't beat the rake at these levels, so that's part of what prompted this thread.
