LOL. Holliday pulls an Eric Byrnes but gets away with it. Congrats Rockies.

Four hour baseball games?

[/ QUOTE ]

Considering it was 13 inning 9-8 ballgame, I was surprised it was only four hours and change.

From one angle it looked like he may have caught the plate with his shoulder.

As a Padres fan, I knew that would happen. I give a 40% of Hoffman coming back next year. He had two chances to lock it up, including Saturday, and blew both.

All things equal though, a hell of a game. One of the best games I've ever watched. WTG Rockies and I'll be rooting for you in the playoffs.

How far out of the playoffs were the Rockies before they went on their 14-1 streak?

[/ QUOTE ]

On 9/16:

Arizona 83 66 .557 -
San Diego 80 67 .544 2
LA Dodgers 79 69 .534 3.5
Colorado 76 72 .514 6.5

San Diego was the wild card team at the time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Phillies likely had a better record than them too.

I'm guessing them making the playoffs is nearly as big a longshot as the Mets missing them. Mets more unlikely, but this is a pretty damn big dog too.

Blown call just adds to this game's mystique, LDO.

they would have won anyway

The BCS comes to baseball.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ump in post-game interview :

"I replayed the play in my head"

[/ QUOTE ]

What happened is he couldn't tell, so he waited to see if the runner made a move to jump back and tag. When Holliday didn't move, McClellan assumed safe. Only problem is Holliday didn't move because he was in la-la land after bouncing his chin on the dirt a couple times in one of the uglier slides you'll ever see at the ML level.

Sir, this kind of sportsmanship on the internet after a blown call is totally uncalled for.
