newbie...help and thanks...bubble situation $20 180 on stars
I have been reading this site for a few months and have seen dramatic improvement in my game...thank you all...
what do you think about this play? $20 180 on Pokerstars...20 players left pays 18 I have 8600 chips left...have been playing tight....bb is 800 I am in big blind with As9s and chip leader (at table) with 39k raises to 2k...I call in the BB and plan on pushing after the flop with just about anything (thoughts?) well flop comes 10h 9c 4c and I go all in...he calls with Ac2c and wins with a flush on the river... I felt pretty good about this play but wanted others opinion... |

I realy think your play was horrible, preflop and post flop.
You called a raise out of position for 30% of your stack (any reads on BS?)and then without folding equity you plan a stop and go. This is certainly a play but made at the wrong time with the wrong opponent. Going forward please do not post hand reusults if you want objective comments. |

Please use converter to post hand.
On the bubble, in this position, I let this go. Probably a little nitty ... maybe not After the bubble I would just shove ... but you made a nice play and got your money in when you were ahead. |

The stop and go plan would be better if the big stack was raising from the button or cut off. It would also be better if you were not using it against someone with so many chips. That is because someone with 36,000 chips may be more willing to gamble and call you on the flop with a whiffed AK.
I do not hate the play as much as the previous responders. If you think that Ax/KJ/etc are in the big stack's raising range then this might be a good spot for a stop and go. The villain will be getting ~2:1 odds to call you if you shove preflop and that makes his calling range pretty much whatever he opened with. I like the SNG better than a pf shove in this spot. |

Yes, given that the pot is around T1500 to start, and your stack about T7800, its about that time for push or fold. Here it seems like a clear fold. Don't worry about losing the BB, you'll soon be pushing late to take those back.
Also curious where your stack was out of the 20 left? Too close to the bubble to be putting on a stop and go I think. |

thank you...I will leave results off next time... another question then...should I have went all in pre or should this be an easy fold... [/ QUOTE ] I don't think your play is necessarily bad. The issue is whether you think agaisnt this guy's UTG+1 opening range you think you have more fold equity pre-flop or on the flop. If he's only opening big aces and pairs from this position (and is thus never folding pre-flop), then your play is just fine, IMO. You're leaving yourself more or less a pot sized shove on the flop so he's not getting the odds with hands he's missed and will find it hard to call with 66. If he's raising all sorts of hands from ep, then shoving, as a tight player, pre-flop is going to be +EV. I'm not folding in your shoes - it just depends when the money goes in. |

How much would villian have to raise in order for there to be enough FE for hero to push or CR AI on the flop?
