OP, it'll be easier for you to pick up booze than anybody who's traveling. Stock room with several cases of beer and a couple of hookers.

The simple answer is to just give the guys a few lines while you're there. Nobody complains when they get free blow. I don't think you owe them any money though.

"Hmm waiter, this chicken dish looks excellent, but I'm not a fan of rice. I'd like it without the rice. The dish is $12.99, so the new price without rice would be what, $8? I think that's fair. Thank you."

every thread about "money etiquette" in OOT seems to compete with the last, since by definition there can be only one biggest nit alive

Not even close to the same. I've been in the position where I need a hotel room and a bunch of other people don't. It doesn't even cross my mind that anybody else would be on the hook for it. I do expect those people not to be giant douches though when figuring out money for the rest of the day/night.

So my advice, don't pay for the hotel and don't be a douche.

First, why is this guy hosting his own bachelor party? The best man should be taking care of the details. If the room is being used for bachelor party activities, then everyone should chip in. If there is a best man, ask what you owe him. If not, ask the guys who rented the room what you owe them. They'll probably say 'nothing' but ask anyway. This should go without saying -- but make sure the bachelor pays for nothing all night. If there is no best man, someone has to take the lead on that. Have fun.

How often do your friends get married, enough that $100 here and there is going to matter?

But if you're really worried about it, wait till you're a couple lines in, all buddy buddy and ask how much you owe.

Or save everyone money and let them crash at your place :P
