Default Aussies at Carbon Poker

Any Aussie play there? Can you give fake registration details and just use neteller?

Isn't it an Aussie based site? I thought I read that allowing other Aussies to play there broke some law. Kind of the same reason that Bodog doesn't allow Canadians except that in Bodog/Calvin's case it's more that he has a general fear of prosecution.

Ah okay, that explains it.

It's actually illegal, as I understand it, for Aussies to play online at all. Most sites just ignore that. They might have it in their ToS, but they don't actually enforce it.

Thanks for your answer. Makes a lot of sense.

This is correct.

Then you don't understand it, because this is not what the law says.

Check the source I quoted above.

I disagree. There's a great thread discussing this (with people from both sides) here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...page=&vc=1

This is not legal advice; see a lawyer if you want legal advice

Online poker is not illegal for Australians. But sites with buisnesses based/with offices in Australia cant accept Australian players. Same reason we cant play on the Betfair poker room is why we wouldnt be allowed to play on Carbon poker.

You are splitting a very fine hair. Whether the person punished is you or the site, it's illegal for you to play there. In the same way, it's illegal for you to drink in a pub if you're 13. This is true whether the law says you are fined or the pub is fined.

I'm glad I could clear that English idiom up for you. If there's anything else you're struggling with, please let me know.
