Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] completely depends on the fish and the frequency that he does it. in a vacuum i fold if missed/catch a weak hand on the flop [/ QUOTE ] Yea, i agree, I am almost certain a good amount of SSNL hates facing this play and needs some work with it. So I was suggesting a thread for it where people could post opponents stats and tough spots and we could get good comments on the hands to help people plug this leak in their game. [/ QUOTE ] yeah good idea, it annoys me too. I fell like i should be folding sometimes pf |

Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
Do "they" do it a lot, or does he do it a lot? I don't think I've ever ended up seeing a showdown vs one of these. It'd be great if someone could figure out a PT query so we can figure out some hand ranges for the preflop min-3. Maybe maybe if I remember correctly, I've seen it done with a pair <99, but I have no real idea.
PS, your avatar puts me on tilt. |

Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
i hate to sound like devil's advocate but I think you played this hand well too but a lot of times i find myself in this similar situation and i don't think i see too many people folding or not pushing unless we are beat here. But I play mainly live and find that I loose pots like this usually for a lot when I am just barely outkicked and it is a big pot (hope this doesn't make me a fish). I am very curious what poeple have to say about this

Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
lol, u dont like johnnydrama, i am a big fan of entourage, i am going to eat dinner now but will try finding a few hands real quick in my DB and starting a thread for it and others can add in. It may be tough to locate random hands in PT but i will try, I def see this bet often at ssnl

Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
I'm a bit curious as to why you did not charge him more for the flush draw on the flop. I know the point of the post is dealing with the min raises, and figuring this out, but am curious as to why you c/c on the flop.

Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
[ QUOTE ]
I fold pre, oop. [/ QUOTE ] This is probably the right thing to do without reads. I see this play alot too- usually from the same guys who minc/r cbets on rag/paired flops. I think whether or not they make it against you has lot to do with image, and is often a pretty lame attempt to 'outplay' you. Not saying this is the right thing to do, but if they're pretty deep i've had success coming over the top of these bets. Got an essay to write now, but if anyone's interested I'll dig up some HHs later. |

Re: AQo vs the new donkey raise
As tricky as the situation may be in general, I think that calling on the turn is a somewhat easy decision - if you give him credit for AK without the diamond, your EV is nearly 32% and you only need to have 35% equity to make the call correct. Unless your read is wrong and he's playing a boat this way to get you to call off with trips+FD, the absolute worst case is this call is a $4.09 hit in EV. Toss AQ into his range of hands and you have more than odds to call.
