villain is an agressive regular. had a few run ins with him but nothing out of the ordinary. to the best of my knowledge we've never exchanged words. any thoughts?

Spite bubble? What does that mean?

Looks like he's pushing first in with an M of 1. Perfectly normal play.

sorry if it isn't clear. villain is in the big blind and needs to call 225 into a pot of about 1100. if he was chipleader folding would make sense, but as he only has half the chips of UTG, folding in that spot seems retarded.

or is this some advanced play i don't understand?

i don't think it was a misclick.

firstly, i must have played hundreds of games with him and i've never known him to misclick before (obv i wouldn't know if he'd folded aces by accident)

secondly, we'd had a couple of sb vs bb confrontations on other tables in the half hour or so beforehand. nothing out of the ordinary, pushing light calling light etc.

thirdly, it wasn't an instant fold. he seemed to dwell up for a while before folding. this might not mean anything as he multitables, but my gut feeling at the time was that he was trying to bubble me.

Why not push yourself from the button? Almost a third of your stack is sitting on the table, you have a decent hand considering the SB's calling range (basically ATC), and the BB is unlikely to get involved without a big hand with such a tiny stack hanging around on the bubble.

Perhaps Villian is colluding with SB? I would check for other irregularities during games they play together.
The real problem with this hand is UTG's fold :-O

Pushing here when OP has a history of being called light by the BB? Bad bad idea. And fwiw, most SBs aren't calling with ATC.
