Default taking a shot at 15/30?

Normally I play 6/12. Got table share of bad beat JP. Now thinking about taking a shot at 15/30 at Artichoke Joes or one of the mid-stakes games at Bay 101.

Advice to enhance my likelihood of remaining at the higher level? Keep in mind that I am moving up from 6/12.

thanks, Mr. C

Not much difference between the 6/12 and 8/16 at Bay101. It jumps right to 20/40 after that. The 20/40 is relatively easy to beat, because it's not the highest game. I've heard different from 15/30 AJ, because it IS the highest game spread. But then I've never played the 15/30 there, so...

Be sure to stick to your bankroll management and you'll do fine. The lower proportional rake at 20/40 helps with the slight increase in skill. Then, just the normal advice as entering any Mid-Limit game (although 15 and 20 are becoming low limit more and more): they are more aggressive, suited connectors go down in value (not a gazillion passive callers) and High cards go up (re-raise with AJo is not wrong). Etc. etc. etc.

bellatrix, thanks for this advice.

Another way of asking. Will the AJ 15-30 or Bay 20/40 play more like Ciaffone's Middle Limit Holdem Poker or Miller's SSHE?

Strange answer: Like a loose Ciaffone or an aggressive SSHE.

If you go an a weekend at sit down around 11pm, you'll have a nice mix of people playing catch-up or on tilt. Plenty of LAGtards at these tables. If you can adjust to that, you're fine.

Both books and their respective styles will make you money, just in different ways. The good thing is that SSHE is still relevant, just that a lot of the situations in the book don't come up, because there aren't that many passive players in there, for which you account in SSHE.

mr c,

Congrats on the table share....How much was it ? (if you don't mind me asking).

I have no real advice for the 15/30 at AJs as I'm yet to play in it, but I think spotting you now might be a lot easier

I'm not being a dick here at all but you aren't ready for 15-30 AT ALL.

If you weren't being a dick, you'd probably have sent a pm instead of posting in this forum. But I mean, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.....

StrictlyStrategy,

I value you your comment. There's a reason that my subject line has a question mark, and I phrased it as taking a shot.

It would, however, be very helpful if you could clue me in as to your reasons for writing that I'm not ready AT ALL. This would likely be very helpful to me in my progress. I am here to learn, and I very much appreciate constructive criticism.

I'm actually pretty honored that you remember enough about my posts to have such a strong opinion, and take this as a compliment!

Mr. C.
