Getting new computer, Vista or XP?
I'm going to get a new computer in the very new future. I'm always hearing of what seem to be minor problems people are having with Vista and their poker software is it just a safer bet to stay with XP?
Thanks |

Stay with XP. I guarantee vista has nothing you need but will make trouble.

Re: Getting new computer, Vista or XP?
I like XP.
It's running stable, so no need to make experiments and wasting time with a too big and too colorfull Vista. Oh and never touch a running system. But don't hear on me. If it's up to me everybody would use Win98 if it would be stable like XP |

Win 95 FTW.
This one never crashed on me. The only problem I had was with using USB. |

XP for sure. Vista sucks, wait for Service Pack 1 before you get it.

Re: Getting new computer, Vista or XP?
I'd agree that XP is the one to go for.
I found XP's immediate predessor NT4 to be the most stable operating system I've ever used. Were it not for the fact that it wasn't mainstream and so quite a few programs would not work with it I'd have stuck with it. Microsoft just load more and more garbage and flash gew-gaws into each new operating system and most of these are completely irrelevant for most people who simply want an OS to do a job. |

Re: Getting new computer, Vista or XP?
My home desktop runs vista business, my laptop runs XP Pro, my work desktop runs debian linux. From this, I conclude: 1 - I recommend XP over Vista, unless you have some strange desire to play DX10 games. 2 - I really wish poker stars made a linux client |

XP won't play DX10 games? [/ QUOTE ] It wont play DX10 *only* games. DX10 is exclusive to Vista. At least, I think it is... |

Re: Getting new computer, Vista or XP?
If they give you a choice, go with XP. Vista still has some issues with security that make running PT, PAHud, GT+, etc. a little bit of a pain. If they don't give you a choice, you can contact Microsoft after you get the new computer and tell them you want to "downgrade" to XP. They won't like it much, but if you push they will help you out and hook you up with the XP software.
