If -4 buyins is your worst session, brace yourself.

Had a 4 buyin upswing yesterday, 4 buyin downswing today...we should both quit poker. Not really, but seriously its standard. BTW if villian is a huge fish id 4bet pf w/ QQ.

Re: Just had the worst session of my life and need help fixing it.
Hey I saw a player go on a 13 BI downswing at one table over about 100 minutes while another went the same amount in the other direction. Sorta sick really, watching the suck outs, but the loser gets lots of Sklansky bucks. He was playing great poker, and the winner was not. Lets hope noone has a tape of that table when making a skill argument to the layperson.
Varience happens, learn to embrace it and realize that in a game where the SD/100 is typcially larger than 0.3 BI that such things will a happen often. If you think about it, to get the error down to +/- 1BB of your true win rate (for 95% confidence interval) you would need at least 360,000 hands. I should break out that vcalc program I wrote many moons ago in response to Homer's famous post on the subject. |
