Because Capping is Fun!
Edit: James' hand is T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
fish limps, TAGgy stat-guy limps, unknown player raises in MP2ish, a LAGgy guy 3bets on the button, i take it to captown, USA. so the fish calls, TAGgy guy folds, MP2ish guy folds, LAG calls. Flop(15sb): K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] i check, check, check. Turn(7.5bb): 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] i bet, fish calls, LAG calls. River(10.5bb): 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] i bet, fish calls, LAG folds. thoughts on pf? flop? whatever else? why? |

Re: Because Capping is Fun!
Were you looking to CR the flop? I think you have to bet here...you're going to get a lot of Qs and Js to fold here, due to the K on the board and the fact you capped pf. You might even get crappy aces to fold. I think this is an easy bet on the flop.

Re: Because Capping is Fun!
I think he was testing the waters at the flop? It's not unlikely one of them has a king. They will probably call regardless of their holding, and you still don't know anything. But when the fish bets himself you probably get some info. When just the lag bets you can isolate him with a c/r. When the fish bets and the lag raises you can probably fold quietly. Something like that? Turn and river I like.

FPS Bet the flop Bet turn slow down on river... [/ QUOTE ] Why slow down on the river if hero still thinks he has the best hand (obviously action and opponent dependent) I'd end up value betting this river a lot if I bet the flop and turn and don't get raised. |

Re: Because Capping is Fun!
i feel like the most important part of this hand was preflop. when the button 3bets the TAGs raise, i have a decision to make.
capping over calling was clearly superior in my mind. for one i was out of position with a good but not great made hand. since i have represented a monster, this cap should help my opponents play more straightforwardly against me postflop which will help mitigate my positional disadvantage in regards to decision-making. secondly, it will help minimize the field in a big pot so my pair of tens has it's best chance to hold up UI. if you have a decent image most semireasonable players will fold when facing two or 3 bets cold, and i wanted to give them that opportunity. finally, the dead money that is created in the pot helps make up for any equity deficit i may be facing before the flop. since it is possible i'm against a better pocket pair, that dead money helps make up for some of that underdog status. this concept does not just apply in preflop situations. on any given street in hold em, when the pot is big and you have a pretty good hand that stands a fair shot at winning you need to try to maximize that opportunity. if it means putting in an extra bet or two, so be it. in the long run the profit you should gain from it will more than compensate. |
