solid article. drop the "The" dude, it totally threw me off. More on how much Jon Broxton [censored] pwns would've been nice, but that's pretty much a different subject so nevermind.

Yeah, the fact that he's not given up a run in the 11 or so innings he's pitched in the streak is [censored]' awesome

I have no clue if this would be possible, but it'd be extremely interesting to see a quantitative look at how playoff structures in nba/nfl/nhl/mlb/world cup/etc. impact the outcomes in the respective leagues, and theorize to the difference the outcomes would be with different playoff structures

similarly, how the 2/3/2 vs 2/2/1/1/1 playoff systems impacts round winners in 7 game series

there is no way there's enough data to draw conclusions from a study on this.

Good work JoA. I'm sure if you stick to it you'll improve.

Good article. I was surprised to see Jose Cruz Jr. listed as a defensive asset though.

Jose Cruz was always a good defender, even won a gold glove in 2003. He gets an unfairly poor reputation because he made a key error in the NLCS that year.

Yea for some reason I had Cruz Jr. mixed up with Alex Sanchez.

I just heard a comment during a baseball broadcast tonight, about the Twins being lucky to be playing "meaningful" games right now (as opposed to, say, KC). I'd like to know if teams who are involved in the playoff hunt tend to do better in Aug/Sept than teams who aren't in the playoff hunt. Obviously this would be relative to their overall performance (or at least compared to their first 4 months of the season). Then maybe see which teams do better (Oakland?) and why, and which teams do worse and why.
