Casino AZ sat to State Poker Championship - Aggro++
So I recently read the 2+2 article on restealing and decide it's going to be my big edge at the Casino AZ state poker championship satellites. $110 buyin, first place gets $1050 seat.
I'm chipleader with about 2800. Second chip leader (2500) is a regular I had pegged as a gambling degen. I have seen him regularly around the casino for at least a year, but had never played regular with him, but I remembered he made odd (extra large) raises and seemed a little superstitious and told lots of bad beat stories. So clearly anyone whose in a casino that much has a problem and can't be a good player, right? He had just stolen my BB with a raise to 300 on the button at level 50-100. Now that I'm SB, he makes a bigger raise in CO, to 400. I've got 97o in the SB. I make it 1200. Thoughts? |

Doesn't sound like the type of player that will lay down. Also, you are pot stuck if he shoves, and oop if he calls.
I really don't think stack sizes are good for this. 97s might be a different story. |

is this a winner take all?
if yes, forget about loose resteals. they work a lot better in a 50/30/20. he is not gonna fold anything good. |

I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but I think Depeche Mode is a sweet band!
Yugoslav PS I'd just fold there unless I read something in him that made me think he was planning on folding. |

If you have your heart set on restealing, I'd wait for better situations
larger blinds spots when you can just shove in or re-raise, but still fold to a raise spots when you're not OOP if called spots where you have a better hand etc... some or all of the above |

Yes it's an all or nothing satellite. After my raise, CO immediately pushes all-in for 2500. Anyone find a fold here?

Re: Casino AZ sat to State Poker Championship - Aggro++
There really isn't much need to steal chips in these if they're anything like the WSOP sats. I would expect him to call the reraise with KTo and get his stack in on a flop of QT6. Wait for a real hand for a big pot against him and steal from the weaker, tighter players. Punish limpers. ??? Profit.

I know it's not that interesting a hand, once again I mis-used some technique before I really understood it well, so I might as well go to results. Getting almost 3-1 I couldn't fold so I called to see QQ. No suckout for me, I'm out on the next hand.
After I left the table I talked to a pro who I play regularly with and pointed out the CO to him. I said isn't he a maniac who makes weird bet sizes? The pro laughed. No, he said, he's rock-tight and makes larger than normal bets with big pairs. |
