[ QUOTE ]
I need to vent here. I'm in a 450 hand session, and I've come across the following hands: JJ < AK all-in on 665 flop AK < AQ PF all-in Q4 < Q9 all-in on QT4 flop AA < KQ all-in on J86 flop (yes) AK < 44 PF all-in (okay, coinflip) and the best one 44 < 73 PF all-in vs every-hand-shoving monkey That's getting stacked as the favorite one time for every 75 hands. Also lost another one where I was behind. Bankroll is dwindling. This is supposed to be a goldmine , but I have not won a single all-in yet today. Something's wrong with my mojo and god I hate poker. Re: SSNL POKER [cheese] thread July - Part 1
he checks behind his completed T8s with the rivered nuts?? [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
Can you really read into a 1/2 player THAT much, saying that "he would check behind [every other hand] for showdown value"? I mean, I see random 1/2 dudes play 2pair or a set like this all the time. Call the dry flop, call again on the king turn since he thinks raising is going to scare you off, and finally bet for value when checked to on the river. |

This book is gonna be so awesome. The fish will be raising to 6BB with their big pairs and 2.5-3BB with small pairs and stuff. BRILLIANT!!! ty Matt, it takes real genius to make the droolers we play against even worse. [/ QUOTE ] Good lord that is going to rule. The Tuff_fish type guys who just copy the preflop rules and don't think about the game are ideal for this trap. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is definitely not a +EV call, and I probably make these ace high call downs as much as anybody. The thing is against a player who is so dumb and unpredictable as we see in this hand, he could easily be bluffing the best hand. If there was a flush draw on the flop then it becomes not as bad of a call, but really we're beating exactly 56 and 68, but losing to stuff like bottom pair that he turns into a bluff, occasionally a better ace high, as well as when he luckboxed his way into two pair or something. The point is that his range isn't polarized to nuts/air and we're going to get owned when he shows up with some retarded hand that beats us. If we had A9, then a call would be closer and probably good. |

Re: SSNL POKER [cheese] thread July - Part 1
I didn't think he was that dumb and unpredictable at all (note he had a double gutter, apart from preflop his play was entirely reasonable). I thought (and still think) his range was highly polarized towards {65, 68, T8} + some random turned/rivered 2 pair hands. Getting almost 3-1 that's a call for me.
