Bernie,

I was just answering the question. PAC 10, Big 10, SEC or Big 12 are all good conferences with plenty of good teams per. The Big 12 does get a bad wrap as being a weak conference or a conference that lacks depth for the most part and this i disagree with.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like the big 12.

I think the conference, as a whole, has been on a down in the last few years but is coming back. When OU got blown out in the big12 champ then going to the NC and getting smoked left quite an impression on alot of people.

The top 4 conferences do run in cycles. Jury is still out on the ACC, though I think that conference has potential. I'm not sold on the Big Easy yet.

SEC also has a lot of periennel crappy teams such as Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss (other than the Eli years) and MSU. So do a bunch of the other conferences, but the discrepency between the good and the bad in the SEC is huge.

[/ QUOTE ]

:Whispering: You're not supposed to speak of those lesser teams of the SEC. Nor are you to speak of their lack of OOC (especially away games)scheduling.

USC road games next season. At Neb, Cal, Oregon, UW, ASU, and Notre Dame.

[/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately, it looks like 6-0.

I have a hard time believing this to be true. For each respective school it may be their biggest game of the year. Cal returns their entire offense and Lincoln should be a great game. One loss should still keep them in the Championship game, but you never can be certain.

I also don't think the SEC is the deepest conference, though they are the most overrated.

[/ QUOTE ]

Would you dispute either of these statements?

The SEC was the best conference in the country this year.
The SEC is the best conference in the country year-in-year out. (not every year, but consistently)

What do you mean by overrated? Most people argued that the SEC was below the Pac 10 this year. However looking back now on the whole season and the Bowls, it's pretty obvious the SEC was #1. They also have the most players on NFL rosters, so it's not just some media bias.

This was true 5 years ago, tell Georgia about the huge discrepancy. Kentucky is getting better and better, Vandy is getting better and better (their OLB is the best LB in the country). Ole Miss right now is bad, but they got some decent players (some very bad starters too). The bottom of the SEC is starting to get better and better. Look at the bottom teams of the Big10 I think they are much worse than the SEC.
SEC>>>Big12>Pac10>>>>Big10

Just b/c Kentucky went 8-5 this year, don't tell me their on the immediate up and up. 1 good year in 5, doesn't mean their on the up and up. Vandy was good b/c of Cutler, I wouldn't say they have much of a future doing well in SEC football.

I'm not confident in how well Arkansas will do in the future either with 1 pretty damn good season.

sigh...back to the conference arguments

they are all pretty much even over time with slight fluctuations of who is better from one year to the next

ugh

I hate that I'm being made to stick up for the big10, but not only have Ohio State and Michigan won national titles, Wisconsin and Penn State have been very close. Purdue, Illinois, and Iowa have also won the Big10 over the time frame given earlier. There is depth there usually. This year was exceptionally bad.

Cal returns their entire offense

[/ QUOTE ]

I just read that M. Lynch is turning pro.

But let's look at these games

Neb: Still building. Not on USC's level yet. USC is pretty deep with talent. Being on top that long will do that. They'll be better than they were this year.

Cal: Could be a tough game. Not sure where Cal will be at next year.

UW: As much as I'd love it to happen, UW will be in a mean stretch of their season and they're not near as talented as USC. Last year they played them well, but I don't think that'd have been the norm.

ASU: Jury is out with a new coach doing his first year. I love Erickson, but this is a wait and see.

Oregon: It'd be nice if they got on track and stayed there. Which Oregon team is going to show up?

ND: Don't even get me started...
