Default Re-Enter Buy-In - what do you think???

The Normandie Casino, Gardena, Ca just started a new Tournament called Midnight Madness, 10 pm, This tournament runs every night, except Sunday.

Registration is $50.00 Buy-In/$10.00 Registration Fee (Registration goes on for 2 hours till Midnight). There is a guarantee and free food if you play after midnight.

You get 3000 Chips, there are 3 levels between 10:15pm and 11:45pm.

What they are allowing you to do for the first time, I've heard of, in tournaments is wait until the break at 11:45pm and then you can enter as a new player.

Question #1

My Question is, instead of the 3000 chips, you get at the beginning of the tournament, you get 2500 chips between 11:45pm and Midnight because you can re-enter the tournament as a new player and they give you 2500 as the re-enter player and they also give all new players that enter before Midnight 2500 chips.

Is this worth re-entering or, instead get there just before Midnight and take the 2500 chips?

Question #2

When you're down to say 500 in chips at 11:30pm should you play fast because you can re-enter at the 11:45pm break?

The strategy to playing this tournament seems to be when you are short-stacked around 11:30 - you start to play fast and gamble - so you can re-enter the tournament if you get busted out.

A guy last night did this and placed at the Final Table.

Question #3

Has anyone else ever heard of a tournament that you can re-enter? And remember you can only re-enter at the break between 11:45pm - Midnight - then registration is over.

Waiting for your feedback.

What will the blinds be at midnight, as well as the first 3 levels of the tournament. Your gonna have a different answer whether you have a starting M of 10 or of 40.

Free food does sound enticing though.

The Sahara in Vegas has a $60 tournament three times a day where you can buy back in if you get busted before the first break (1 hour in). This sounds very much like that.

As for your other questions, Mattey is correct in asking what the blinds will be at midnight. In most cases, if you have a choice between starting at the lower blind level and trying to work your way up in chips before midnight, or starting at midnight with a guaranteed stack of 2500 but at high blinds, then you should opt for that first option.

Also, yes, if you're extremely short when you're getting close to the deadline for buying back in, then you should take more gambles and either bust out so you can rebuy, or get your stack back.

After the break - Ante 25/Blinds 100/200. 2500 Starting chips.

I am trying to get them to make it 2800 Chips.

As for the Sahara - it does sound similar but actually Sahara sounds more like 1 Rebuy. This is a little different because you MUST WAIT till the break before buying back in. The actual game play is really 90 minutes - three 30 minute level.

I think that their 2500 is to much of a penalty - since we have to wait for 90 minutes.

What ya think? Is this correct?

At a full table, you're buying back in with an M under 5... which sucks. Paying a full buy-in to "start" a tournament in that position vs. many others who may have an M in the 20 range sounds like a bad investment to me.

Play it from the beginning and try to chip up, and don't pay too much attention to the option to rebuy. If you're getting short towards the end of that period, you should be pushing lighter not because you can rebuy, but because you need to get chips in order to survive. If you have a pretty good sized stack as the rebuy period approaches, be more willing to call against shorties, as they are probably pushing extremely marginal hands thinking they can just buy back in if they bust.

I played a morning tourney at MGM in Vegas recently that let you buy back in after busting out in the first hour. You get a full starting stack and a new seat. Not sure why they don't just make it a single rebuy.
