Default Mexico meth raid (old news story)

A friend sent me some pics today, this is mainly just an excuse to post a picture of a lot of money.

Story

I think the scale of this bust is pretty crazy, though. 4500 pounds in $100 bills, WTF!

they spend it. the article says that the mansion where the money was found was designed to hold the cash. no drugs where produced there. It was their own personal bank.

I think the funniest part of the article was the explanation of why 100 dollar bills were preferred. When you store 100s instead of 20s you decrease the amount of space you need by up to 5 times. O RLY?

I'm sure it all goes to worthy projects like infrastructure in poor neighborhoods, or the Mexican educational system. Mexico is very good about stuff like that.

g,

I assume it's like the US, and the seized cash is forfeited to law enforcement and/or government agencies.

Also, I imagine there's some Training Day style pocket-stuffing along the way.

I misunderstood the question. I thought he was asking what the drug dealers did with the money. I wonder if the US and Mexican authorities have a deal set up beforehand stating what percentage each agency gets of any seized cash or assets.

i friend of mine's business is destroying drugs confiscated by the authorities. He has a few locations - near various border entry points - and some special kind of incinerator. business is booming.
