Default Other casinos in LA beside commerce

Just spent a week non stop grinding at the commerce 20/40 and 40/80 limit..

Changed hotels .. Am now in north hollywood.
I want to check out some of the other casinos in the LA area for tourism sake.

Any reviews on the bicycle/hollywood park/hustler/hawain gardens for mid liimt games??

30/60 is my sweet spot for bankroll.. Ideally would play as high as 100/200 but cant afford it...

Noticed a few of them are in compton and inglewood... Aren't these like the worst areas of LA? Does this play a factor in visiting them?

Any notes/suggestions on these casinos would be greatly apreciated..

*wishes hustler had topless dealers/masseuses*

Hollywood park have a very wild 40/80 game, most of the players stay 2-3 days streight trying to get even.

lol yeah. That place is full of sickos. The # for hp is 310-330-2841. Ask for the "pegasus room" to find out which games are going, and to get on the list (if there is one) while you are en route.

I don't live in the area, but I have travelled there and played at HP several times. The neighborhood is not "nice", but I don't think it is that scary either - I have walked around much worse looking neighborhoods up and down the east coast. The parking lot seems safe to me too, but they have valet parking if you don't want to risk it.

I live in Van Nuys, near North Hollywood. So if you have traffic specific questions, ask away.

As to HP, take the 101 West to the 405 South and exit at Century. Take Century east straight to HP and park in valet. Do that and you will be fine. If you need food or gas, stop at the locations on Century that are west of the 405. There is 4 gas stations and a Carls Jr, Dennys, Subway, Taco Bell, and McDonalds there. I'm particularly partial to the 76 station that is about 3/4 of a mile west of the 405.

Oh yeah, the 405 sucks like almost always.

Hawaiian Gardens is a dump, but the employees are friendly and pleasant enough. The mid limit games vary(I can really only speak to the $15-30 and $20-40), but in general the players are really bad. There is a $30-60 and a $60-120 also(I think). I never valet, but probably should.

Hustler is nice. The atmosphere is decent and its comfortable. The cocktail waitresses are all cute(not goddesses, just cute). I remember them offering a $25-50 and a $50-100 and I've never played those games, but they were supposed to be very good. One thing about Hustler and HG is that since there are a limited number of games going, the wait lists can get rather long. I haven't played here in a while, but I like it. Its my default place if I feel like drinking and playing $4-8 or something. I think its worth a trip.

Hustler has a 25/50 game usually; sometimes two.

Hawaiian Gardens has a 30/60; haven't seen the 60/120 there.

If you don't mind driving further South toward San Diego, Ocean's 11 has 20/40, 40/80...and occasionally 75/150.

Here's a chart with the game activity I've seen recently.

As far as tourism, unfortunately most card rooms are located in areas that are industrial or otherwise not that desirable. You won't find Commerce, Hawaiian Gardens, Inglewood, Gardena, Bell Gardens, etc. on anyone's tourist stop list. Unless, of course, your idea of sightseeing is seeing card rooms and playing limit hold'em.

Hustler/Gardena...not much around

Hollywood Park/Inglewood...definitely not much around

Hawaiian Gardens, it's a tiny city...but not far from Long Beach (Queen Mary et al.) and Disneyland (to the east)...maybe 30-40 minutes

Ocean's 11...90 minutes from LA, 40 minutes from San Diego...lots in the surrounding area (40 miles radius) to see or do

If it was me, I'd head to Ocean's and maybe check out some San Diego attractions with my 40/80 winnings.

Hope this helps.

Do you plan on taking a stroll down Crenshaw at night after playing cards? If not you will be safe. Just park in the valet if you're too scared to park in the parking lot. I HIGHLY doubt you'll be shot for no reason walking around the casino. If you do get shot in there they probably had a reason.

What exactly do you want to know? None of them are in great areas. But it doesn't matter as you don't live in the areas and shouldn't be wandering around in them anyway. Stay in the freaking casino. I'll lay you 10,000/1 that if you stay in the casino and mind your own business you won't get shot.
