To hack into someones account you need to get onto the site through their name so if you left yourself logged on how could someone log on to your name if you are logged on.

Are you a member of Cardrunners or Pokerbay? Any place that may use the same password as your FT account and have access to information needed to get into it...maybe an exploit there?

[/ QUOTE ]

Cardrunners no. hmmm I did sign up for pokerbay though, I hope I wouldn't have been stupid enough to use the same one for pokerbay, I honestly don't recall what my password was on there.

Sorry, I don't feel like digging up the link, but just a week or two ago, Raymer's Stars account was hacked.

[/ QUOTE ]

In hindsight, Raymer said his password was easy to guess.

OP, how hard would it be to guess your FTP password?

[/ QUOTE ]

Wish they would add security feature where if you password is typed in wrong 3 times, the account gets locked. And if the hacker only tries once, I wish there would be a pop up when you log on that tells you someone attempted to log on to the account.

why not just leave yourself logged on 24 hours a day. Even when you are not playing just leave yourself logged in

[/ QUOTE ]

this is probably one of the smartest things to do. Only downside is that your computer is always up and running and exploitable and if something did get on there, all they would have to do is reset the comp in the middle of the night.

I didn't see this question in the thread. Do you run any
kind of wireless connection in your house? I read a story
the other day, that said that most people who have a wireless
system are almost completle unprotected.

You also might what to run "Highjack This" and then
post the results to one of the tech boards on the net.
The experts may be able to find any nasty's you might
have picked up.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, no wireless, there was at one point, but its been gone for 2 or 3 months now.

When I've tried logging on to my FTP account from my laptop while logged in on my desktop, something pops up on my desktop saying "Someone is logging on your account on a different computer, do you want to disconnect or deny them access?" and if you don't select anything within 30 seconds, you automatically get disconnected.

So, this isn't a helpful option for security purposes unless they change the default action from "disconnect" to "deny" when you aren't at your computer.

I like the second idea, a daily/weekly e-mail of everyone who tried to log-in to your account with times.

The first one could be used by your opponents to lock your account mid game. Maybe their IP is blocked from signing on as you to prevent my idea.
