they should make an episode of high stakes poker with half the lineup of the originals (live pros) and the other half the top 5 or so online players. 500k buyin or something, that'd be so awesome to watch

QFT

the only thing that seems to be preventing us internet kids from crushing the biggest live games is that we can't get invited to them.

last ive read, even the so called open 100/200 game at the venetian is hand picked by gabe thaler and he refuses to run it if some online player comes

Not to forget why the USPC was canceled on espn? The final table was as exciting as watching paint dry on a wall, even with the limited hands they showed. Poker is meant to be a social game, which most online players really lack by multi tabling all day and all night.

A lot of the "live game" skill comes in finding marks and getting games with them and keeping them entertained. This is where the old lives pros have excelled so well. They've got marks like Guy and Flynt and of course Eli and Sammy and many many more. I'm sure Gabe has got a good game going and he doesn't want some online guys coming and destroying the game.

doubt the TV producers would like that idea, internet players aren't as appealing to watch as Negreneau, Farha, Brunson, Matusow and Hellmuth.

Many of the Internet guys have no idea how much they give up playing live.

I assume Aba knows by now why he got smoked live after the live guys got some hands in against him...

i think there's some truth to what Kenny says, in the following sense: in your typical live 50-100 game, I think your typical live 50-100+ pros will have a higher EV than even some of the best high-limit online pros. at least, if EV in the games that regularly go is how you judge the "best" players, then i'd guess there's a good chance that no online player is in the top 20. however, that's a very different thing than saying those live pros would collectively be a favorite in a game against the best internet pros, even if the game were played live.
