30k first printing is totally sold out per one of his PR guys...that's somewhat surprising.

Not really. He is the most popular pro out there. I don't think many would disagree with that. I'm suprised they only printed 30K.

doens't that mean that those 30k books were just sold to bookstores and not necessarily purchased yet?

"Sold Out" really means allocated to stores. 30k copies have not been purchased by consumers yet, and the stores reserve the right to return unsold copies. And yes, I totally believe it, 30k copies can be moved quickly if retailers think there will be a demand. As a point of reference I suspect 2+2's book order will be around 30k for Stox's upcoming title - its very realistic.
