I think the rafting game is one of the only multi player games that uses the nunchuk(except maybe boxing). I would recommend some kind of charger bc the wiimotes eat batteries like no other.

Turning down the speaker volume helps a lot.

I have a charger too and I would like to vote for this as THE most important Wii accessory. I seriously might have broken my Wii by now if it wasn't for a charger. Battery use is good, but it's still a pain if you play a lot. A good charger is soo easy to use. For controls, I see the hierarchy like this, assuming fairly regular multiplayer:

Wiimote (comes with console)
Nunchuck (comes with console)
2nd Wiimote
2nd Nunchuck
Classic Controller (ignore this if you don't plan on playing VC titles)
2nd Classic Controller (for some of the most awesome 2player games around, esp to give your kids an education! :P)

After it becomes a question of how much 4player you play. For Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart...what else? There's some stuff I guess. I think Wave Race 64 has a 4 player mode. But in all honesty it's not that necessary. Unless you're obsessed with the abovementioned games. And with 4 players, you most definitely will be. Oh and Bomberman. LOL. Maybe skip the Classic Controllers, I doubt your kids will play VC unfortunately

Does Nintendo make a charging system? Looking on EB's website I only see 3rd party charging stuff.

I love the 360 charging station, would be cool if the Wii has something similar.

Generally I go for Intec stuff when I get 3rd party accessories for my systems, but their Wii charger sucks. It comes with a couple replacement battery packs for the wii and you have to remove them from the wiimotes to charge them.

I've had no problems with my Nyko one that's been available since launch.

Yeah, mute the speaker and turn of rumble. It may have saved me tons on batteries, but I got a crapload of rechargeables cuz I knew it could be a problem.

If you have 3 kids who game together, definetly get 3 nunchuks. Maybe even 4 if they have a friend over. You never know what game is going to want them, so making one kid sit out on the fun because you skimped on the 'chuks isn't going to sit too well with them, I gather.

You might also look to get some skins for them, if your kids like to have one controller that's "theirs".

Doesn't the recharger stand thingy only do 2 remotes at once?

Oh, and save some money on a wiimote and buy Wii Play. Game + wiimote = $50. Can't complain.. Tanks is crazy addictive, too.

Okay, I've picked up the system, 3 wiimotes and 3 nunchunks.

Will one recharger handle up to 4 wiimotes decently? (I know it only charges 2 at a time)

Do the nunchunks also recharge, or are they just battery?

Thanks to everyone for the help

Wiiplay comes with a wiimote

nunchucks/classic controllers do not recharge (no battery associated with them) - just the wiimote.

One charger should be fine to manage things - doubtful that you will regularly be killing all 4 wiimotes at once. When you do, charge one set overnight, change in the morning.

i have the charger that bestbuy has for $30 and it's great

charges 2...has battery pack that u put into wiimote and then u just put on charger when not using...u'd have to get 2 if u want all 4 to be rechargeable, as u would only have 2 battery packs otherwise

thanks, that's kind of what I was assuming/hoping on the recharger.

I balance two GameBoys on one recharge cord, because I'm too stubborn/lazy to replace the missing cord
