Don't sugar coat it dude, how do you really feel about LHE?

Re: OT: Friends don\'t let friends play limit
[ QUOTE ]
Given that a winning rate at 1/2NL is about the same as a good 4/8 player or a mediocre 8/16 player can make per hour [/ QUOTE ] humbly disagree. my per hour winrate at 1/2NL 200.00 capped buyin and 2/5NL 500.00 capped buyin(live) would require me playing something along the lines of AT LEAST 15/30 and 30/60 respectively to achieve equivalent rates. that's assuming a bet and a half an hour in limit, which may be a bit optimistic in the long run. i haven't played a large enough sample of live LHE to ascertain what a "good" live LHE winrate might be per hour. |

Re: OT: Friends don\'t let friends play limit
Sorry, James, but while most NL players say it, few have the hours to back it up--or keep the kind of records needed, maybe. Those who's opinions I value highly have the NL hourly rate much, much lower than most NL players believe is achievable or is their win rate. Simply put, my sources have it far less than most NL players think. 1/2 at between $15 and $20 and 2/5 around $30 to $40 at the absolute outside. No one has ever believed my friend Angel Largay's claim to making $100/hr at 2/5, even if they've played with him and know how really, really good he is.
I don't know why, but limit players seem much more realistic about their winrates than no limit, or at least more honest. Anyone who uses the handle "daladiesman" has dreams of grandure, anyway, and his opinion on anything other than himself is suspect. I could less about your opinion on limit any more than your ladies care about your swordsmanship, which is probably pretty small to begin with. CJ |

Re: OT: Friends don\'t let friends play limit
If pot limit did become the big game, I'd be the happiest dude out there. IMO three-handed pot limit holdem is the peak of all poker formats.
Too bad I can't get anyone to play that one. |

Sorry, James, but while most NL players say it, few have the hours to back it up [/ QUOTE ] that's my problem. the sample size. i'm almost certain i haven't just "run well" since July 15th when i made the decision to begin playing the game as a means of supporting my family. that said, i think my edge over most opponents at the local indian casino is greater than one can expect to have in the average cardrooms around the country. not as much a testament to my skill, as it is to their lack thereof. i guess what it boils down to is it's all relative to what games you play. |

[ QUOTE ]
limit sucks fat balls. and the game is very easy to master,i can put up with 300bb downswings that last a long time. Lost 2k at 1/2lmit and quit limit forever. Now i play 1/2 Nl and am a balla! [censored] limit [censored] it right in its [censored] ass. [/ QUOTE ] The whole topic has been exactly this sort of thing. That's why I blasted you. It's despicable, the way some people resort to this sort of language and derision. You proved the point quite well. No limit is for juveniles. Learn some manners, because someday you won't be hiding behind a computer monitor. That's not courage. |

Re: OT: Friends don\'t let friends play limit
James, not to imply you aren't good or you don't have enough stats, etc. It's just that a true winrate takes a long time to be accurate, I guess, and most people haven't played as many hours at no limit as guys have played at limit. Maybe Doyle, but not a lot of others.
When guys like Barry Tanenbaum tell me an avg winrate for 1/2NL is $17/hr, I believe him. He's EF Hutton. |
