Cactus Jack, you are right on here. Cooke has always been good on mid-limit hold-em. And he seems to be growing. His article in the Cardplayer with Mizrachi on the cover that works through his thoughts and reflections on 'edge' is profound. He lost the hand but the reader wins big.

It gets mentioned in quite a few lists, although there are some people who think that only 2+2 publishes poker books.

yeah, really outstanding book..

and if you're not sure, you can just look at his CP columns... in fact, i think the book is just old columns, although i don't mind purchasing it.

i think CP should put together past columns into book format... then ciaffone could have put out a really good book in a timely manner. maybe throw in a little new material too.

Just a heads up: Real Poker III: The Best of Cooke 1992 to 2005 will be published later this year...probably by Summer.

Just wanted to thank you guys for this thread. I had never heard of Real Poker II: The Play of Hands. I picked it up, read it, and was very impressed. This is definitely one of the best poker books I've ever read. I can't wait to read it again to pick up on all the stuff I'm sure I missed the first way through!
