Retarded cable modem question

I feel like the answer is really obvious, but don't know which way it goes. Can a cable modem be plugged into any cable jack that is running through my house? Or is the connection for cable internet somehow specific?

ya, it can be plugged in anywhere, just as you can plug a tv into any jack.

its possible its filtered depending on your ISP, but hooking it in is the only real logical way to find out

a lot of times only some of the outlets are active.
