Default help me get my dual monitors up and running

I recently purchased a new desktop and two 20" widescreen monitors. Both monitors are DVI and my desktop only has one VGA input so I went to CompUSA to get a video card. They didn't have any cards with two DVI inputs so an employee there suggested I get a card with one input of each type and one of these adapters.

I installed the video card and attached one monitor to the DVI input and it works fine, but the monitor that's attached to the adapter isn't getting anything.

Also my computer insta-crashes any time I try to view a PDF file with Adobe Reader. I tried uninstalling the version of Adobe that came with the OS and installing the download version from their website but it still crashes anyway. This is weird because it's running great other than this.

This is where you went wrong. Take that video card back and get a proper Dual DVI card from newegg for about $60.
