i forget his name, but the guy who used to do MNF would always mention the line.

[/ QUOTE ]

Al Michaels will mention the spread late in games that are already decided but still have the spread in doubt. He doesn't just come out and say it though, its usually something along the lines of: A score here won't mean much to team X, but it would mean a lot more to some of the people still watching.

Is it just a policy that places like HBO and ESPN don't mention gambling spreads, or can they get in trouble legally for just mention something related to sports betting? I think I saw the NFL show on HBO used to make picks aganis the line, but went to straight picks years ago. Pretty lame even places like Sirius just pick games straight up.

didn't they open at -4? so they were both wrong

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it opened -3 at Greek. In either case, Costas definitely struck me as the more knowledgeable and interested of the two.

Didn't/doesn't Hank Goldberg make picks ATS on ESPN? If he doesn't anymore he did for a long time.

Yes, he still does it. And the Berman/Swami thing I don't think is a secret either...still is about the spread.

Isn't this strategy 16-0 this season?

7-1 if you parlay them both together as pats and the over. 8-0 against the spread and 7-1 against the over. They missed covering against cincinati by 7 points.

As close to a sure thing as there is in football

The whole Chris Berman Swami thing used to secretly be all about the spread. It was all under the table, but he would tell you who to take against the spread.

[/ QUOTE ]

I remember as a kid being confused as to why the arrow sometimes pointed to the losing team.

San Fran 24
Los Angeles 21 <---

I was like WTF San Fran wins what are you talking about? One of those great "OHHHH" moments.
