Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
Lon: Here's the flop... 7 9 ACE, and GREENSTEIN pairs his Ace and takes the lead
Norman: <Makes some comment about ex-wife and somehow correlates Greenstein hitting the flop to her> Lon: The turn cards. ITS A TEN. IVEY WITH A SET OF TENS. Norman: <Compare suckout to some historical downfall like the Roman Empire> Lon: The river is a 2 of hearts and Greenstein is eliminated in 7th place Norman: Lon, I haven't seen a man this devestated since I married my ex-wife! |

Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
I liked Norm from before I knew how to spell poker, now that I can spell poker I like him even more.
It is a TV show after all.... |

Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
Anyone troubled by ESPN's press release saying "... the second annual H.O.R.S.E. event, which is the highest buy-in tournament at $50,000 and features five games (no-limit hold 'em, Omaha, razz, stud and stud eight or better)"
Think it's a typo, or are they changing the format of the game again for TV? |

Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
I am 100% sure that the NL part is just a typo. It's just so commonly preceding the term 'hold'em' that it is automatic for a lot of writing.

Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
on HSP Gabe Kaplan once said: "Mike Matusow is wearing his gay beer garden shirt" that [censored] had me going. but Norman and Lon are good.

Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
Does anybody really watch the WSOP for strategic play?
I mean, we see like 1% of all hands played, so besides the obvious silly and good plays we have no way of telling how good some of these hands being played are. It's entertaining and it's poker, and unlike Gabe and AJ who talk over table talk that I would like to hear, Norm actually makes the WSOP stuff a little more entertaining. It's not deep, insightful comedy, but it's corny enough to be funny and to mock. It obviously also sells to the mainstream, which is a must for ESPN. |

Re: ESPN Enhances WSOP Coverage
Isn't the Final Table NLHE - that makes it partly correct. Near enough for ESPN.

[/ QUOTE ] That's just a typo made by the publicist who wrote the press release. The publicist, while she is known to be highly organized and she is also a good person as she does charity work once a week (for Meals on Wheels), wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the various forms of hold'em or the various forms of omaha even if her life had depended on it. |
