50NL ... 250BB bigstack open pushes UTG+1? Eh??
Bodog History for Hand #695719134
Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2007-05-02 22:07:45 Table 'Thundering Herd' 9-max Seat #1 is the button Seat 1: KJatl ($57.10) Seat 2: darbong ($47.50) Seat 3: nautique117 ($30.15) Seat 4: Mitchos07 ($25.05) Seat 5: oneeightseven ($153.45) Seat 7: 925DC ($49.75) Seat 8: chandler441 ($47.00) ------------------------------ NEW HAND darbong: posts the small blind $0.25 nautique117: posts the big blind $0.50 --- DEALING POCKETS KJatl is dealt [Kh,Kd] Mitchos07: folds oneeightseven: goes all in $153.45 925DC: folds chandler441: folds KJatl: ??? No reads, new to the table. My first thought was, wow what a dumb way to play Aces. My 2nd thought was, f it I have Kings. Does anyone fold here? If there was ever a time to fold Kings this seems like the spot... What the hell does a bigstack open push with like that? |

I do this occasionally with Aces just for shyts and grins because you may occasionally get someone thinking the same exact thing you are "what a dumb way to play aces" and get a caller. Sometimes you get a shortstack caller saying f-it.
I fold this because with my luck... the one time I call he has the aces. |

Re: 50NL ... 250BB bigstack open pushes UTG+1? Eh??
Um if I had anything besides AA or KK I would fold but with those two hands this is just too good an opportunity to pass up... Unless players with more experience agree that it's always aces.

Re: 50NL ... 250BB bigstack open pushes UTG+1? Eh??
If you open raise 4xBB and someone reraises all-in like this... it might be spew by them.
But an open huge overbet with some deep stacked is Aces enough for me to fold Kings. |

Since you have KK the odds of him having AK are reduced but that's the hand I put him on. If he would play that way with QQ-AA+AK you're a favorite. |

Re: 50NL ... 250BB bigstack open pushes UTG+1? Eh??
I would call. No one else at the table has even 50 bbs, so this guy knows he can't get stacked this hand. It's not beyond reason that this guy misclicked. If it were a bit bigger stakes or stacks I might fold, but I'm calling here.

Re: 50NL ... 250BB bigstack open pushes UTG+1? Eh??
This was on Bodog? Insta-call.
I've seen a bunch of people recently push with AK preflop. Then after they get called and lose a coinflip, they start talking about what a brilliant play they made because Sklansky says pushing preflop is always the best way to play AK... |
