Saddest Scene in a Sitcom
I'm going with "Have a Good Life", the final episode to Diane's exit in Cheers. Any other good ones?

Re: Saddest Scene in a Sitcom
MASH is a tricky one because it wasn't exactly a traditional sit-com.
But the episode where Henry is leaving is set up pretty much as comedy throughout (with some predictably touching moments like Radar saluting him as he's getting on the helicpoter). So I think this is a decent nomination. Interestingly, the writers did not tell the cast the ending of the episode until moments before they were to shoot the final scene and there was genuine shock when the cast was told. Obviously they kept this info from them in an attempt for a more genuine feeling of shock in that scene. |

MASH- When Radar reads the announcement that Henry's plane crashed. [/ QUOTE ] Ditto. I read somewhere that they did multiple takes of this scene and Gary Burghoff nailed each time. This show had one of the finest cast of actors ever on TV. |

Last episode of the Wonder Years - during the parade scene when adult Kevin is telling the audience what happened after high school. When he says that his dad died of a heart attack two years later - I shed some tears.

Good Times: When the family receives news of James' death just as they're about to finally move out of the Chicago ghetto [/ QUOTE ] Great moment -- I still remember it when I saw it ... and I actually thought it was real (that they wrote out the father as the actor had died). I was shocked years later when I found out that he hadn't died, but he had somehow left the ghetto and become a general on The West Wing. |

Taxi:
The estranged Jim goes through his father's stuff after he dies, lays out his suit over the couch, and finds a tape. It plays Stevie Wonder's "You are the Sunshine of My Life." Jim gasps, "Dad! I didn't know you liked Stevie Wonder, too." |
