NL200 - Why is he shoving trips here if he has it?

Villain has $217, I have $200

When he's raised preflop, it's usually been at least 5x and upwards of 9x, and then he'd proceed to pot the flop then move AI on the turn regardless of how many people were in the pot or how big the overbet was. He hasn't been called, and I haven't seen him play any other pots besides those situations and when he's called a pfr then check/folded flop.

Villain bets $16, BB folds, Hero calls.

How often has he raised PF though? Given your read, I still call... I'd just hold off on the fist pump I think.

He's raised pf maybe twice in seven or eight orbits. Those are the only two pots he really got involved in, and he was in position both of those times.

Your read is he has check folded flops in which he called a pfr...here he check calls and pushes turn. Thats a bit diffwerent than if he was the pfr...and he's acting the same way he has been, only now he's gotcha! Id fold.

He didn't check-call. He donked. This situation is no different. Villain is an idiot. He doesn't know what position means and he probably doesn't see any difference between this hand and the other hands he overshoved on.

Its too easy of a set up...its still a different situation. Its against his mo because youve seen him do it, and now he has a sucker to take the bait. If he was the pfr, id call instantly.

This is something I see all the time. Good players giving retards way too much credit. Bluffing calling stations thinking "Oh well he knows I've seen him call down, so he can't possibly think I'm bluffing, so I'll bluff him." NO! This is this guy's third overshove in 60 hands. That means he's felting 1 in 20 hands. You don't think we obliterate his range here? If he shows up with KJ, whatever, note that he plays the nuts this way and watch carefully to see what else he's overshoving. "Poker is a game of incomplete information blah blah blah". Based on what we have, we have to call IMO. I'm not gonna automatically assume a level 3 thinking setup from a guy whose favorite play is betting $180 into a $45 pot.

I think I call here. I wouldn't be surprised to see a jack here, but guys like this can have any ace as well. They're turning their hand into a bluff, but they don't realize it. They just think "top pair go all-in."
