Forget Gold, Laliberte is the biggest donk in the history of HSP.

[/ QUOTE ]

they are both really really awful, there's no reason to say one is worse than the other. and the best part about jamie is he thinks he is good. jamie could seriously go busto if he constantly plays these stakes. but he probably only does it for HSP.

lol at guys saying pa should´t call the flop. jamie gave that huge "wow, that feels like aces, i with it was aces" speech before the flop, indicating he has sth like 88-KK. he doesn´t have to have KK really. even if he had qq and hit a set on the flop, he gave pa perfect odds - 15.000 into a 30.000 $ pot or 3 to 1 to draw out on him lol.

i mean, he´s just terrible and make huge mistakes all the time. given that even an ace may be good, patrick is getting perfect odds to call. he might outplay jamie even if he doesn´t hit and jamie will stack off EVERY TIME pa hits.

that hand was great tv and prob the most interesting in hsp history - lots of fun to come once all the money was in contrast to negreanu vs hansen for example. i was really rooting for a king to come on the turn. bad thing is, i almost knew jamie would win most of the money. blogs were full of jamie winning big so it had to be by getting lucky in sick set-ups as he´s the worst player ever on high stakes poker anyway.

everybody´s playing him like he has his cards face up (benyamine not trying to bluff a river with ace hi once jamie starts talking, benyamine calling with 2nd pair no kicker after jamies speech, pa insta-checking behind when gold trap-checked the river oop after betting the turn etc etc.) i haven´t seen any player behave worse on the table as well. jumping around like a monkey and yelling while some other human being lost 500k is just as classless as it gets.

Jamie gold played the hand perfectly, everyone that says otherwise can stop playing poker right now.

Antonius also played the hand good, although things can be sayed about his PF en flop call, in this particulair game against this particulair villain he played it correctly.

It was a sick beat for jamie gold that PA hit his 2 outer to stack him (no way the money would go in if the ace came) and only fair Jamie won 2/3 pot

i know that this was a huge pot and all, but the fact that they ran it 3 times really takes away from the 'omg' factor of a $750k pot.

i went from being like, "ZOMG, what a sick hand for all that cash to, oh, they're running it 3 times, kind of meh"

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree. I know they do it because they hedge their bets and are a bunch of scaredy cats, but I would rather they just run it once and let it go.

jamie is as classless as it gets? hes terrible at poker but has been a nice guy the hole time. He acts like hes trying to fit in with the cool kids, but hes very friendly about it. Wow he said [censored] after he asked PA if he had AJ.
Classes try Farha and Helmuth.

lol. he didn´t bet enough on the flop. pa was getting 3 to 1 drawing to 5 outs plus he had huge implied odds. i mean, sammy farha even said "those free cards hurt sometimes" after the hand. there´s nothing wrong with stacking off on the turn as he can´t put pa on a gutshot, but he didn´t play anything in that hand perfectly either. you seem to miss the point that pa wouldn´t put ANY money into the pot when missing the turn. moving in with 23 % equity doesn´t make you deserve winning 2/3 of the pot as well.

I don't follow Limon. After the turn Jamie only has 22% equity in that pot.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah... Well I am glad I picked up my poker lesson from a true professional today.

Only bet/call when you know you will win.

Against Jamie's actual hand, the EV Patrik gets from the possibility of a king turning is $13,275 (2/45 * $399,500 * 77.3%).

[/ QUOTE ]

You forgot to consider the outcome when Gold hits his redraw. PA's EV when the king spikes is (0.77-0.23)380K if both players are willing to commit all their chips on the turn. Given PA's position and Gold's range, it's probably a marginal -EV flop call, but it's difficult fault PA's decision at the time. Gold's turn play was quite questionable. I don't see how PA would play a set this way and proceed to stack off on the turn with it.

In regards to running it three times, I do not think theres a significant impact on EV, so it is only a matter of one's risk preference. Hats off to how well PA took the beat.

Oh, and I think it would've been great if it was Hellmuth who played PA's hand in a similar fashion. Great for most viewers anyway.
