I cannot understand why people spend so much on rings. Totally stupid and counterproductive for two reasons:
1. You spend a lot of money on something almost completely useless. 2. By doing so, you increase the chances that you will marry a greedy money-hungry bitch. My rule was: $300 max for her ring. No interest in marrying anyone for whom this was a problem. In the end I married a fantastic woman who thought $300 was absurdly extravagant.
