Default NL100 Nut str8 draw vs unknown

I just sat down, villain is unknown. I think this hand is questionable on a lot of streets, though it felt intuitive at the time. Turn check might be standard but I wanted to set up the pot for a river push to fold out any one pair hands that couldn't take heat on the river, but he donks the river and confuses me. Please tear it apart.

I probably check the turn.

River, is he calling with like any J? seems sortve weird action. I would think his range is like JQ/89cc/etc. I think we are beat here a fair amount.

if it's relevant i timed down before shoving river. i couldn't put him on a reasonable hand that wouldn't shove river (he left $22 behind) so i stuck to my original plan.

ok check turn is the consensus. why is that? my original intention was to bet turn to inflate pot to make an easy river shove. is this viable? i.e. how frequently will villain c/c all-in on the river with an overpair/TPTK?
