Default Odds of making a set on the flop with pocket pair

Anyone? Should you pre-flop raise with pocket 10's?

Odds are about 8 to 1 (I believe this takes into account the times where you make a set and loose), and ALWAYS raise TT pf if first to act, and at 6max I will sometimes 3-bet with it from late position.

6 max raise any pocket pair any position when opening the pot. You will be surprised how many blinds you take down UTG w 33.

Odds are 7.33:1. Usually people just round it to 7.5:1.

Keep in mind that the odds people quote for making a hand doesn't always mean that is the odds of you winning. A great example is a small pocket pair. In NL you prefer your opponent(s) to have at least 10x the amount that you must call preflop left in their stack and IMO it is best if you have some history on the player to know that they are capable of paying you off. The reason for this additional overlay is to compensate for the times you make your set and lose and / or the times you don't get paid off. You'll hit your set 1 time in 8 so you're going to do a lot of folding on the flop. And when you do hit and get beat most likely you'll lose big, like your whole stack. So when you hit and win you want to be a big score.

Oh, I play full ring and I almost always raise TT.

Good Luck

The odds of making a hand don't change. They are what they are. Whether that hand is the winner is an entirely different subject

Generally if you flop a set you will win, but that is going to be dependent on # of opponents and the board. A set over set scenario, on the flop, is very rare though. I think like .5% (I could be wrong on the percentage but it is very rare).

Keep in mind that even if an opponent should flop a straight or flush (flopping these are also few and far between. Odds of flopping a straight with connectors is about 76:1. Odds for flopping flush, 118:1) when you flop a set you still have outs to a full house or quads.

You can't calculate this because it depends on how you play the set and what kind of opponents you are against.

However, I would guess at 90-95% for normal play and players.
