Rampart to re-open poker \"room\"
Rampart casino in the northwest area of Las Vegas will be opening a 4 table poker room, actually an area in the pit, from what they told me in a quick phone call. The poker room at Rampart closed, IIRC in 2002. This is where the "Big Games" used to be housed and you can read about it in Barry G's book Ace on the River. August 27th is the projected opening date.
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/whatsnews.cfm#1146 also confirms this when I googled. |

Re: Rampart to re-open poker \"room\"
My first reaction is that this room will do absolutely no business and be gone in 6 months with the lock that Red Rock has (or at least HAD prior to the rake debacle).
However, on second thought I do occasionaly go with the wife and play some $5 pai gow there and they seem to have a clientele that is very loyal and only goes there (unlike say the RR and suncoast patrons), so maybe it will be OK? Whenever I go there it is always half regulars who every pit boss and dealer knows their name, and half convention people. Might be a good mix after all. |

Re: Rampart to re-open poker \"room\"
Thanks for the info Photoc.
Their old poker room was open from March 2001 to December 2001. It's where the Steakhouse is now. It was one of my all time favorite poker rooms. Looking forward to stopping in to take a look when they get it going. Best of Luck Howard |

Re: Rampart to re-open poker \"room\"
I can tell you this about the Rampart poker room. The poker dealers will be pooling tips with the pit dealers. This will make for some slow poker games. You never get a fast poker game when the dealer has to pool with other poker dealers or especially pit dealers.
