Re: Poker in Sacramento
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Does Limelight still have 6/12 on thursdays? [/ QUOTE ] It didn't the last time I was there. They did have the 4/8 up and running. I got kinda pissed the last time I went there when I tried to raise in the 4/8 game, and only brought 15 chips over the line when trying to raise to 16. It was ruled a call, which is idiotic. My intention was clear, and I was only one chip short. I've been playing the 9/18 at Capitol and NL at the Derby lately. Stupid rulings piss me off. /rant [/ QUOTE ] This must have just changed, because this past week the rule has been if you bring over half the amount required to raise, it is considered a raise. Not all of the dealers seem to know this yet, but you can call the floor over to get the correct decision. |

i think it is pretty blatant in the 9-18 games. especially the main table. the first table is usually fine but once they move you over be prepared. you see basically the same people there daily and it is literally you against most of the table imo. it is as blatant as i have ever seen. [/ QUOTE ] Do you have any examples of this happening you can share? I was planning on playing in this game once my bankroll can withstand it, so I'd like to know exactly what I'll be getting into before hand. |

Re: Poker in Sacramento
I've lived in the Sac area for about 12 years now, and have hit just about every card room in a 200 mi. radius. As far as NL goes in the Sac area, there are a few options. More than what there were a few years ago.
First thing to mention, is that in the County of Sacramento, there are different levels (read: versions) of "No Limit" and this is also based on which city you are in. Most games are technically "spread limit" but essentially play like a NL game does. Once you are out of Sac. county, true NL can be found. From Sac, in driving distance, those worth playing and those to pass on. In and around the Sacramento area, these are what come to mind. (I hang out at tworags quite a bit, so have done reviews on the rooms below (links referenced to reviews) which may be of add'l info. (no association to www.tworags.com other than a user / contributor to the site / ruthless poker degenerate / etc.)) Those games to pass on: Folsom Lake Bowl (Folsom) Don't waste your time. Electronic tables, poorly run room. Those to play or worth a visit: Deuces Wild (Auburn) Likely the best card room in N. California, and spreads several NL games, from 2/3, 5/10, and 10/25. This is by far my favorite room in the area. http://www.tworags.com/index.php?ACT...view&ID=92 The Limelight (Downtown) 1/2 S-NL (Max 1,000 bet) http://www.tworags.com/index.php?ACT...iew&ID=213 Lucky Derby (Citrus Heights) 2/5 and 5/10 NL. Technically spread limit, but plays as NL. http://www.tworags.com/index.php?ACT...iew&ID=129 Jackson Rancheria (Jackson) 1/2NL 2/5NL and 3/5NL with interest. http://www.tworags.com/index.php?ACT...iew&ID=223 Black Sheep Casino (Cameron Park) 2/3NL game. Small room, but decent action on the right nights. http://www.tworags.com/index.php?ACT...iew&ID=133 Happy Flops! ~Q *edit* Regarding the team play that others referred to at the LD and the Cap, yes it does exist. I've seen it myself and have heard quite a bit about it at LD in their NL game. I have not heard of teams playing at Cap. I'll be interested in hearing first hand experiences from others as well, should they share it. ~Q |

[/ QUOTE ] There are 2 husband/wife teams that regularly play in that game. Once they were BOTH at the same table with me. I was about to rack up and go, when the LOOSEST player in the place came into the game. I was still able to turn a profit in the game despite the 2 teams. |

Re: Poker in Sacramento
Effective today (5/31/2007), all of the games are no longer kill. No word yet on whether they will introduce a new game, but for now it's 3/6, 4/8, 9/18 and occasional 12/24. I'm lobbying for a 6/12 but it's unlikely.

NL in the Sacramento area sucks... nothing gives you 100BB. Deuces is full of sharks at the larger buy-ins. Derby now spreads 50BB games as opposed to 40BB. Phoenix has a $1/$2 $200 max buy game. |

They originally removed the 1/2 kill from all games, and the players did not like it. There seems to be a LOT more action at these kill tables. |
