Speaking of two ball...I have one. I used to love it. Recently, though, I feel like the head is so heavy that I have a hard time controlling it.

Are you talking about longer or shorter putts? I have a 2-ball and I love it outside of 8 feet, but as you said, with a heavier head it is hard to make much of a stroke on shorter putts (especially downhill sliders).

[/ QUOTE ]

Shorter putts...I just feel like the club will get away from me if I take a normal putting stroke, so then I tend to slow the stroke down a bit which, as we all know, creates all sorts of problems. I usually end up babying the ball and leaving my putts short

I don't know what a good remedy is...shorten up the backswing?

So to those people who have gone from "good" to "great" golfers...what's your opinion?

[/ QUOTE ]

To answer that, NO!

I used to putt quite well, it was a function of practice more that technique Im pretty sure. I, until last month, have always used a Ping(had lots of models) no insert, I had every anser model made, a B60, a couple Zings, they just looked good to me, I liked the way they line up and never really had any problems, if you look at the PGA Tour, you will see the really good putters usually use something that is older. I have a friend that plays on the PGA Tour and has the same B60 he had in Jr Hi(we played HS golf on the same team) and IMO is a very good putter. If you think you would like to upgrade, make sure you try out everything you can get your hands on, and make sure you have whatever you end up with made to the same length that your current putter is. Just dont turn into someone that was a good putter and fell in love with a putter because of the look but cant seem to make a putt with it.

If this is some sort of weird coming out post because you have the yips-- you need to behead a chicken over your golf bag.

Otherwise. Practice more short putts-- at the start of your sessions, not the end, make it short but very focused work. And hit the back of the cup rather than die it in.

(I'm kinda guessing this is what I'd do if I weren't terrible.)

1. I love my Scotty Newport 2.
2. Do not hit balls hard with the putter, it will bend easily (I found out this the hard way)

I'm pretty sure Brad Faxon has had the same putter for 15+ years? That should be a good indication.

Fax was the example I cited, he used the same Pind MyDay for over 10 years, I believe he recently got a Scotty in the bag.
