Ask me about completing a National Security questionnaire
I was just handed a "National Security" questionnaire that I have to complete for work reasons.
Anyone have any questions? I can try to answer as I read through and complete the thing. |

Re: Ask me about completing a National Security questionnaire
Was there a question about your religion?
Were you asked if you owned a firearm? How much personal information did they want (anything in addition to what you would normally provide an employer)? |

Is this for DoD security clearance?

Re: Ask me about completing a National Security questionnaire
There are no questions about religion. I'm pretty sure there are no questions about owning firearms either.
Aside from info you would give an employer, the form asks questions about citizenship, including citizenship of relatives. They need a list of close friends and colleagues. There are questions about military history, criminal history and drug use specifically. They also ask questions about financial issues and civil court actions. |

Is this for DoD security clearance? [/ QUOTE ] This is what started the process. I represent someone who was convicted of a terrorist crime several years ago. I am handling his appeal. The government just informed me that they want to send me a letter concerning his case, but I need security clearance first. That is all I know at the moment. |

Yeah I had to fill out this form. Pretty obnoxious coming up with character references for places I lived years ago.

I'm pretty sure there are no questions about owning firearms either. [/ QUOTE ] This depends on the agency/department you are applying to get a clearance from. For example, if you are applying for a security clearance from the ATF you are going to have additional paperwork to fill out regarding firearms than someone applying for a clearance for the TSA. Almost all, if not all of the agencies/departments work of the standard E-86, SF86 or SF85-P National Security Questionnaire. |

Re: Ask me about completing a National Security questionnaire
Wynton,
Just wait until you meet with the investigator. These interviews are hilarious. They basically read about 4 or 5 pages of questions off to you and you will most likely answer "no" to every single one of them. Oh and over half of these questions have something to do with "Foreign Nationals". It truly is comedy gold. No one who wants a clearance (for doing no good) is actually going to answer "yes" to most of these questions. Kind of like those questions you used to get asked at the airline check-in counters. |
