Alou got DL'd apparantly. Looks like we might see alot of Gomez the next couple of weeks.

Easley has to be batting 2nd because Capuano is a lefty and Willie is stacking the order up top with righties/switch hitters today.

Ah, thats my fault for not knowing Capuano was a lefty. Makes sense. How does Gomez bat?

Quick Gomez scouting report for those unfamiliar with him:

Pure tools guy that is still more projection that production. He has insane speed and range in the outfield and could be a top steals guy in the league especially if he can work with Henderson and Reyes. Average to Below-Average plate discipline, and projectable power due to his big frame. His line from AA last year was .281/.350/.423 - but this is a little off regarding what he could theoretically do - he hit .341 after July last year. This year he's put up .826 OPS against lefties and .760 against righties. Some scouts think he could be better than the more acclaimed Milledge or Martinez, but like I said that's really all projection at this point.

James

EDIT: 3.000 OPS in the majors for his career.

Okay, maybe Alou isn't DLd. I'm watching the Brewers feed and they said Alou was on the DL earlier in the game, now they are saying he is just day-to-day.

I think they are going to try and hold off on the DL for Alou. They have the extra spot right now with Pelfrey being sent down. I'm assuming a decision doesn't have to be made until Thursday.

On an aside, Beltran has really grown on me this year. His interviews have been so much more personal, hearing him talk about shaving all the Mets' heads was hilarious(like when he was talking about how sad shawn green was), and he just generally seems to be having a lot of fun. I think a lot of it has to do with how much better at speaking English he seems to be now than when he first joined the team. I'm sure that makes him so much more comfortable dealing with the media that hounds him - not to mention the fact that he's been performing like the MVP we thought he'd be. One interesting thing I just noticed watching the game was that when he was calling for the ball in CF he was saying "I Got it! I got it!" instead of using spanish in spite of having another hispanic OF out there. I always wondered about that for some reason.
