Default the correct play here please?

live high stakes mtt, on the final table ( 9 players ).
blinds 6/12k running ante 1k. so 27k in the pot

we have jack ten suited passed to you in the cut off with 141k, the big blind has 490k and is pretty standard tag.

we shove and run into qq in bb, is this the correct play, or borderline spewy, I cant decide personally.

I dont like the shove, as i think it screams weak hand, i dont like raise fold as i think we have too few chips to fold after a raise, and i dont really like a fold.........

advice appreciated chaps

depends on prize structure, other stacks, reads etc. but looks ok. definitely nothing wrong with just mucking the hand here under the right circumstances either.

i have no problem raise folding as long as u know you wont get reshoved light. If so open shove is fine and is probably plus ev in a vacuum, but raise folding is better imo. if you raise and then fold you still have 9.5-10 BB's enough to play short stack poker.

if the big-stack is TAG, then shove is fine. Learn to not run into QQ. We are not raise/folding our stack here, thats terrible. We only have 11bb. It is rather awkward and may LOOK like a steal, but the guy still needs a decently big hand for 25% of his stack.

I don't think shove screams weak hand as you don't have many chips left. I think you played it fine.

shove is very standard.

I really hate raise-folding. I don't want the blinds to play back at us with trash that they might shove with fold equity and I don't want them to flat with a hand that dominates us.

Clark,

Just telling you that this is a good push does not help you learn how to play poker so maybe you can come back to the thread and post here why its a good push:

-try to put your opponents on a reasonable calling range.

-Then figure out what % of total hands that range represents.

-Then go to www.pokerstove.com and download the free software. Figure out how your hand fares against the opponents calling range (or you can do this with pen and paper but it will take REALLY long)

You should then figure out (the chips won when everyone folds)*(& of the time everyone folds) + (the chips won when you call and win)*(the % of the time that you are called)*(the % of the time that when you are called you win the hand) - (the chips lost when you call and lose)*(the % of the time that you are called)*(the % of the time that when you are called you lose the hand)

Also in the future please don't post results of your hands and try to include reads on the players to your left (as that will alter their calling range) and also include the buyin of the tournament.

Welcome to the forums,
Steve

Your M is 5.2. Folding is CO is pretty bad. I don't see a better play than pushing.

antes actually quite low for a live tourney. if there were some shortish stacks i could definitely see this being a fold. its probably +cEV but not by a ton, so if there are a couple short stacks around it could well be -$ev.
